Waimea Canyon Family Excursion - Overview

Nestled in the large volcanic crevices of the island of Kauai, Waimea Canyon’s beauty is as explosive as its origins. Begin your tour with the breathtaking views from the tropical Hanapepe Lookout. It might look familiar because its cascading waterfalls and quaint surrounding town were filmed in both Jurassic Park and The Thorn Birds.

From there, drive to the impressive Spouting Horn, a lava rock formation that shoots water 50 feet in the air with every wave. Make your way through the Poipu Resort area until you arrive at the Koloa Sugar Mill. Here you can view the ruins of the first mill that processed one of Hawaii’s most important Old Supplier Names. Don’t forget to look for the profile of Queen Victoria in the bumpy landscape as you return back.

Waimea Canyon Family Excursion - Itinerary




The tour begins with pick up from your hotel in Wailua, Lihue or Poipue by an air-conditioned coach. Your English-speaking driver will also be your guide.

Begin your excursion in Waimea Canyon with one of the best lookouts in the area, Hanapepe. Here, you can see the scenic lush foliage of this valley.

From the Hanapepe Lookout, travel along the Waimea Canyon to the stunning Spouting Horn with plenty of stops for photos along the way. Here you can see this unique rock formation spurt water over 50 feet in the air.

Then drive through the famous Poipu Resort area:.

Stop and tour the remains of the Koloa Sugar Mill, the first sugar mill in the area. See the remaining chimney stacks that were used to process cane in this tropical area.

Finally, take the opportunity to view the craggy landscape which the British suggested resembled their Queen Victoria.

The tour will conclude with drop-off at your hotel.

If your tour status is On Request we will not charge your card until we have been able to confirm your booking with our supplier.  If your tour status is bookable online, your card will be charged when you click confirm and pay.Please note that you don't have to pay anything at the destination.
