A Day in Venice - Tour from Milan - Itinerary




The tour starts from Milan, Foro Bonaparte 76 (MM1 Cairoli) at 0700h (07:00am). Accompanied by an English speaking guide, you will be taken on a coach tour of Venice. Approximately 280 kilometres from Milan, it will take you about 3 hours to reach Venice.

On arrival in Venice you will have a two hour guided tour with a local guide. During the guided visit of the city, you will see all the places listed from the outside. Sites you will visit are:

The Basilica: This church was built in 829 to house the remains of Saint Mark, the city’s patron saint, and was consecrated in 1024. The story of St. Mark is told in the frescos above the entrance. The church is available to be seen during free time.

The Doge’s Palace: For centuries, this was the home of the Doge (the elected ruler of Venice) and the venue for the courts of law and civil administration.

Bridge of Sighs: This bridge was built to connect the interrogation rooms, where prisoners were tried, to their cells which were known as the piombi. It was here that the convicts got their last view of Venice before their imprisonment.

Bell Tower: It was built in the 9th century and was originally used as a lookout tower and a lighthouse. The bells were rung to inform the city’s inhabitants of the main events organised in Venice.

La Fenice Opera house (The Phoenix): This theatre was destroyed twice by fire and was rebuilt to run successfully again.

Campo San Beneto: It is an ancient 11th century church and was rebuilt in the 16th century.

Rialto Bridge: This is a landmark structure on the Grand Canal with shops selling souvenirs, jewellery and glass products. Watch the boats weave their way down the canal.

Take a boat cruise on Canal Grande, enjoy spectacular views of Venice, and hear the captivating stories and secrets of the palaces.

After exploring the sites of Venice, take a boat ride to the bus station.

You will be transferred back in a coach to Milan.
