For your Stonehenge Express Tour from London, you have to make your way to "Evan Evans Tours Office", 258 Vauxhall Bridge Road, London SW1V 1BS, Victoria. Make sure you arrive at the meeting point in plenty of time.

You will set off in your de luxe coach for the 2-hour drive to Stonehenge in the county of Wiltshire. On the way you will enjoy delightful views of the English countryside with its fields, farms hedgerows and woods. When you get close to Stonehenge, you will see the magnificent monument standing up proudly from the expanse of Salisbury Plain.

One of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments, Stonehenge consists of earthworks surrounding a circle of huge standing stones. Around it are hundreds of other prehistoric sites including burial mounds. The stone circle and its surroundings were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.

Experts still debate the age of the great stone circle and the purpose for which it was built. Some archaeologists say it may date from 2400 – 2200 BC. Others believe it goes back at least to 3000 BC. Recent theories have suggested that it was a Neolithic astronomical observatory.

And many other mysteries still surround the structure. How were the massive stones, many weighing several tons, transported to the site and levered into place without the benefit of wheels and pulleys? Why and how were the famous bluestones brought such a huge distance from southern Wales?

This is a self-guided tour and at Stonehenge you will be issued with an excellent audio-guide in a choice of 10 languages (English, Spanish, Japanese, Italian, German, French, Dutch, Swedish, Russian and Mandarin). You can follow a circular tour around the site listening to the narration and marvelling at the massive stones.

You will spend around 90 minutes enjoying Stonehenge before boarding your coach for the return to London. The tour usually arrives back in London Victoria Train Station at around 1830h (6:30pm).

The tour ends at Victoria Train Station but the driver will make one or two stops before Victoria to drop passengers off. The exact location of these stops will be decided on the day of the tour.
