Get to know Phuket on this delightful half-day tour. Visit the Big Buddha statue to see a spectacular new addition to the landscape of the island.

Enjoy eye-popping panoramas over Phuket Town and Chalong Bay from the foot of the statue. If the weather is good you can even see as far as the Phi Phi islands.

Enjoy the peace and tranquillity that surrounds the statue before going on to visit Chalong Temple (Wat Chalong), where you can see many fascinating Buddhist and Thai cultural heritage items, statues, paintings and architecture.

Later, you will visit one of the popular markets. At weekends there will be the chance to visit the colorful local market with its authentic Thai foods and products. On week-days you can go bargain hunting at a factory outlet or wholesale air-conditioned market.

Phuket Discovery Tour: Big Buddha, Chalong Temple and Shopping - Itinerary




For your Phuket Discovery Tour – Shopping & Sightseeing you will be picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned minivan at around 1430h (02:30pm). An English-speaking guide will accompany you.

You will visit the spectacular Big Buddha statue, one of Phuket’s most important landmarks. The huge image is located atop the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata and at 45 meters high can be seen from a far distance.

The statue is 25 meters across at the base and the whole body is covered with beautiful white Burmese marble.

The site of the Big Buddha statue affords stunning 360-degree views of Phuket Town, Kata Karon beaches, Chalong Bay and more. You can even see as far as Phi Phi islands on a clear day. You will spend about 90 minutes at the Big Buddha site.

Next stop is the Chalong Temple (Wat Chalong), where you will spend about an hour. Here you will find many interesting Buddhist and Thai cultural heritage items, statues, paintings and architecture. Come and make a wish for your life and family.

On Saturdays and Sundays only, you can visit the very popular local “Weekend Market”, which has a huge variety of goods and local products. Enjoy the taste of authentic food prepared by local people and perhaps sip a cold beer as you wander through the stalls.

On weekdays, visit a factory outlet or the Expo wholesale air-conditioned market to look for quality goods. The visit takes about 2 hours. You can leave the group at any time and find your own way back to your hotel if you wish.

Otherwise you will be driven back to the hotel at the end of the tour.

Pick up outside the center of Phuket (for example Layan, Nai Thon, Nai Yang, Mai Khao Beach, Paresa Hotel at Kamala Beach and Westin Siray Bay Resort Maple) is possible at an extra charge. Please contact the local activity operator’s office for pick up time and extra charge if any.

How to book
