Kings Canyon-Watarrka National Park Sightseeing Tour - Overview

Watarrka National Park is best known as the home of Kings Canyon, a mighty chasm cleaving the earth to a depth of 270 metres. Watarrka is an important conservation area with rock holes and gorges providing refuge for over 600 species of plants and many native animals. The sheer red rock face of Kings Canyon soars over 100 metres above dense forests of palms, ferns and cycads, sheltering them from the surrounding desert conditions. A moderately challenging six-kilometre walk takes in magnificent views of the Canyon rim, the weathered, buttressed domes of 'the Lost City' and the 'Garden of Eden' - a sheltered valley with permanent waterholes and lush vegetation.

Kings Canyon-Watarrka National Park Sightseeing Tour - Itinerary

You will be picked up from your accommodation and taken in a luxury coach to the Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park for a full day's guided sightseeing tour.

Drive through sandhill country towards Kings Canyon, stopping for breakfast at Kings Creek Station along the way.

Continue on to Watarrka National Park where you can make the rocky climb with your guide to the rim of Kings Canyon and be rewarded with marvellous views. The climb may take up to 3 hours and is for those with a good level of fitness.

Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier walk.

After lunch (own expense) make your way back to Ayers Rock.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your accommodation in Ayers Rock Resort.

Additional info

During the summer months (Dec - Feb), the Kings Canyon Rim climb may be not available in hot weather conditions. An alternative itinerary including a guided walk at Kathleen Springs and a guided walk along the Kings Canyon creek-bed floor will apply.

The confirmation voucher includes the local activity operator’s contact details and local telephone numbers at the destination. They will happily answer any logistical questions you may have.

The climb in Kings Canyon may take up to 3 hours and is for those with a good level of fitness.

Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to

start of the tour to reconfirm departure details.

There should be minimum two people for guaranteed departure.

Tour Availability:

During the hotter months of the year where temperatures can reach and exceed 36°C or 97°F, the Watarrka National Park Rangers strongly advise that visitors do not take part in the Kings Canyon Rim Climb. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of our clients we offer a guided walk along the Kings Canyon creek-bed as a suitable alternative on such days.

Fuel Levy:

Fuel levies may be introduced when required. Should this occur, charges will be payable direct and subject to change without notice.

Do's & Don'ts

Sturdy, comfortable footwear is essential.

Remember to pack a small bag with lunch, wear a hat, sunscreen, take a bottle of water, and a camera.

How to book

	A confirmation voucher for your activity will appear on your screen and a copy will be sent to your mailbox.

	If your tour status is On Request we will not charge your card until we have been able to confirm your booking with our supplier. If your tour status is bookable online, your card will be charged when you click confirm and pay.Please note that you don't have to pay anything at the destination.

What happens after you book

	Please print the electronic voucher sent to you and give them to the operator on the day of the activity.
	The voucher also includes the operator's complete contact details, and local telephone numbers at the destination. They will happily answer any logistical questions you have.

How to Cancel

	Log on to your my isango! account to view the list of your existing bookings.
	Click on view details for the booking you wish to cancel, then click on cancel selected service.
	Your credit card will be refunded with the amount due, according to the cancellation policy.
