No visit to Bangkok is complete without a trip to the dazzling Grand Palace, the city’s most famous landmark.

Built in 1782, the Grand Palace of Bangkok is a stunning testament to the brilliant architectural and decorative skills of the Thai people.

You’ll see proud golden domes, inspirational spires, mosaics of glass or porcelain, exotic wall murals, richly carved and gilded roof supports, doors and windows adorned with mother-of-pearl inlay or gold and black lacquer work, multi-hued tiled roofs, and enormous bronze or brightly colored statues.

You will also have the chance to visit the enchanting Temple of the Emerald Buddha – Thailand’s holiest shrine.

Bangkok Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Tour - Itinerary




You will be picked up from most central Bangkok hotels for your Bangkok Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Tour.

On the day of your tour, plan to meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled pick-up time. Please present your confirmation voucher to the guide before starting the tour.

Your air-conditioned mini-bus will whisk you off to the Grand or Royal Palace, Bangkok’s most famous attraction.

The Palace (Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang) dates back to 1782, the year in which Bangkok was founded. It is actually a complex of buildings and served as the official residence of the king of Thailand from the 18th century to the early 20th century. Today, it is used only for ceremonial purposes. The complex consists of over 100 brightly colored buildings, golden spires and glittering mosaics.

Some buildings in the complex are in pure Thai architectural style. Others, like the magnificent Dusit Hall, show signs of European influence. Dusit Hall used to serve as the Funeral Hall of the Grand Palace.

You will also be able to visit Thailand’s most sacred shrine – Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) – which contains the small and much revered Emerald Buddha.

The jade Buddha (between 60 and 75 cm statue) dates back to the 14th century and is located high above the heads of the worshipers and tourists. The murals that adorn the walls of the Temple depict scenes from the Thai version of the Hindu epic Ramayana.

At the end of the excursion, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Bangkok.

A minimum of two passengers is required for this tour to run. In the unlikely event that the minimum is not reached, the activity operator will contact you either to change the date or to swap you onto a different tour. If neither of these options is satisfactory for you then a refund will be arranged
Do's & Don'ts
The Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha is Thailand's most sacred site and you must be properly dressed to enter the temple. Men must wear long pants and shirts with sleeves (no tank tops). Also no bare feet – if you're wearing sandals or flip-flops you must wear socks as well. Women must also be modestly dressed. No see-through clothes, bare shoulders, etc

How to book
